Airline Volotean on Vienna airport

Spanish low cost carrier Volotea introduced itself on Friday, April 7, on his first flight from Nantes. He started expansion to Vienna Airport. Nantes added Volote on Saturday, Genoa, and from Marseille on Sunday.

Volotea (from the Spanish “revolotear” – “fly around”) was founded in 2011 by the founders of the airline Vueling – Carlos Muñoz and Lazaro Roso. The first flight was 5.4.2012 from Venice. The fleet of the airline consists of 17 Boeing 717-200 (the only operator of this aircraft in Europe) and 4 Airbus A319-100. In 2015, the company’s owners announced plans to drop Boeing 717 in the coming years and have a fleet based solely on Airbus 320 family aircraft.
Volotea currently fly to 77 destinations in 13 countries.

The Boeing 717 was put into operation in 1998. It was also designed by McDonnell Douglas as MD-95. This is the third generation based on the successful DC9 aircraft. After the takeover of McDonnell Douglas, Boeing changed its name to Boeing 717. The production was completed in 2006 and produced 156 pieces in total. If you want to see this model or fly it, you have to buy a ticket at Delta Air Lines, QantasLink, Turkmenistan Airlines, Volotea or Hawaiian Airlines. The capacity of the aircraft is 134 passengers. The maximum range is 3.800km.
