Singapore Airlines to get rid of 5 Airbus A380 aircrafts

Singapore Airlines announced that it plans to release five Airbus A380 aircraft this year. Whatever information is interesting and incomprehensible from a non/insider point of view, it is “thoughtful”.

The first Airbus A380 aircraft were put into service at Singapore Airlines. It was on October 25, 2007. It was the first piece to be delivered from the 10 orders that Singapore Airlines provided through the leasing company Doris Asset Finnance. The 9V-SKA registration aircraft with production number 3 (production registration F-WWSA) made its first flight in May 2006.

Why this exchange? The lease agreement was signed for 10 years, so after its end, the first 5 pieces of A380 Airbus will be returned to the leasing company. It will be until the end of 2018. But airlines will not be without aircraft for a long time. Singapore Airlines has ordered another 5 pieces. So, actually, it will actually “rejuvenate” the A380 Airbus fleet. The age of the fleet is what Singapore Airlines is very much based on, and it also uses it as a competitive advantage.

It is therefore only a question of what Airbus will do with five A380s that are only 10 years old.
